Let’s talk about LEDs! Make the switch today…
Updated: Nov 29, 2022

What is an LED? LED stands for light emitting diode. An LED is a semiconductor like you find in everyday electrical items, only these semiconductors generate light through a process called electroluminescence. Unlike the traditional incandescent bulbs, LED does not generate heat or UV rays and as a result they run much cooler, and use a lot less energy. Typically an old halogen bulb was 90% heat (they get so hot you can cook with them) so that 90% of the electricity used was making heat NOT light. At DLS we use the latest LED Technology from trusted partners based across UK and Europe that usually means a 60%+ saving on energy. In our average sized projects customers save around £500 a month on their energy bills! The LED luminaires / fittings we install can last up to 25 times longer than the average bulbs and are therefore a lot more cost effective due to their longevity. Once fitted you can forget they are there, so no more paying for replacement lamps/ bulbs or maintenance people to get out their ladders to fix. At DLS we are passionate about reducing carbon emissions and saving the environment. By making the switch to LED, you can also do your bit to save the planet (as well as saving yourself money). When electricity generates, CO2 is emitted which is damaging to the environment, so by using LEDs, we use much less energy and so the harmful CO2 released is significantly reduced. This is great for companies looking to improve their CSR reporting and letting their customers know they care about the environment. During our audits we will let you know how much carbon you are saving by upgrading your lighting using recognised specialist software for your design.
In addition to the above, every project that DLS carry out we dispose of the old equipment in a responsible way. We use registered partners to ensure we comply to the WEEE Directive (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment). We promote manufacturers who embrace the “circular economy” and offer recycled products when suitable.
